This reproduction of Thomas Jefferson's lap desk is a versatile, elegant little desk made from mahogany with sumac inlaid details. It provides an extended slanted surface for writing, a slanted surface for reading, and a hand-dovetailed drawer to hold paper, pen, and ink. Reading & writing surfaces fold away for compact size. The original was made in 1776 by Philadelphia cabinetmaker Benjamin Randolph.
